The North of Spain
Northern Spain streches from green countryside of Asturias and Galicia accross the pyrenees to Barcelona. This is probably the area of Spain with most historic monuments, castles monasteries etc. The terrain here is varied with lush forests, sandy beaches and the spectacular Picos de Europa mountains to the west, the Pyrenees through the central region and then Aragon and Barcelona to the east. The northern provinces of Spain can easily be reached within a 3 hours drive from Madrid.
